Kamala Harris’ Stepdaughter Addresses Rumor She Had A Mental Breakdown

Ella Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, posted Saturday on her Instagram story that the rumor she had a mental breakdown and was checked into a hospital is “not true.”
“Also fuck you if you’re out there spreading that,” Emhoff, the daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, wrote. “There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry.”
She continued: “I’ve struggled with my mental health my whole life and I’m not ashamed of it.”
She ended the post with a photo of her and her dog, “I’ve literally just been here playing fetch with Jerry.”
The rumor seemingly came from X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ella’s mom and ex-wife of Doug Emhoff, Kerstin Emhoff, wrote on X that the rumor is “more MAGA bs” against her family.
“Leave my kids alone!!! Ella is doing great and spending a lovely day with her mom,” Kerstin Emhoff wrote. “Having the ability to show your emotions is something we should all hope for. It’s OK to not feel great right now. We aren’t letting anyone break our family down.”
Ella’s post comes a few days after she shared on Instagram that she had “truly no words” after the results of the 2024 presidential election were revealed.
“We are all gonna get through this. It just fucking hurts right now and that’s OK,” she wrote. “The fight doesn’t stop here. Just check in on your people right now. I’m here for all of you and I love you guys.”
During Harris’ presidential campaign, she was attacked by conservatives for not having biological children of her own.
